What do Leanardo DiCaprio and Betty White Have in Common?

The obvious answer, entertainment (duh). But DiCaprio, who has starred in some of Hollywood’s most successful movies, and White, who is everyone’s favorite grandma, have another thing in common. The two A-listers have taken the initiative to help the worlds wildlife…

LEANARDO DICAPRIO

“We have a responsibility to innovate a future where the habitability of our planet does not come at the expense of those who inhabit it”     — Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo_headshotCredited in 35 films, and producer of six, you wouldn’t think he’d have the time to support 20 other charities, but of course he does. Some of the foundations include The World Wildlife Foundation (where he sits on the board of directors), The Gorilla Organization, and The Natural Resources Defense Council.

Not only has he supported them, he even created his own, the Leanardo DiCaprio Foundation, which holds the mission to “save the world’s last wild places.” The organization alone supports over 65 other foundations and has granted $30 million, since 2010, to global conservation efforts. As we speak, DiCaprio is currently working on a new movie, teamed with Warner Bros and a few of his buddies, Tom Hardy and Toby McGuire, that will expose the truths about animal poaching and how it effects the African Savanna.

BETTY WHITE

“I always wanted to be a zookeeper when I was growing up, and I’ve wound up a zookeeper! I’ve been working with the Los Angeles Zoo for 45 years! I’m the luckiest old broad on two feet because my life is divided absolutely in half – half animals and half show business. You can’t ask for better than two things you love the most.” – Betty white betty-white-774x1024

She has never failed to make us laugh. Shes been in over 40 films, and even more television shows, and has made the entire world fall in love with her witty remarks. What you may not know is that she is a true animal advocate.

Betty has supported numerous wildlife organizations such as the Los Angeles Zoo, the African Wildlife Foundation, and PAWS/LA. She has even gone to become the president emerita of the Morris Animal Foundation. Just in April of 2008, White donated $100,000 to the zoo.

We can learn a lot from DiCaprio and White. Even with their hectic and crazy lives, they are still able to put some focus on the things that matter the most to them.
